At this year’s CMBES 47 Annual Meeting, we connected with 38 attendees, 26 of whom shared valuable insights about challenges facing the repair of medical devices.
Independent Biomeds highlighted three major barriers:
- Limited access to affordable parts;
- Difficulty obtaining diagnostic and service information; and
- High cost and limited availability of training.
Manufacturer Representatives pointed to different concerns:
- Liability issues from potential repair errors;
- The burden of maintaining manuals and documentation; and
- Ensuring consistent training standards.
These insights suggest a divide in priorities between independent service providers and manufacturers, but they also point to shared goals: better access, clearer guidelines, and improved collaboration.
