Survey Complete: Thank You for Your Participation!

The Unlocking Healthcare national survey on barriers to the repair and maintenance of software-dependent medical devices in Canada officially closed on July 17, 2026.

We are grateful to everyone who participated and shared their experiences. The survey received more than 250 responses from professionals across Canada, with strong regional representation from across the country. This broad participation provides an important foundation for developing a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities surrounding medical device repair in the Canadian healthcare system.

If you chose to enter the gift card draw, selected winners will be contacted during the week of August 10, 2026, using the contact information provided at the time of survey completion.

The survey builds on the qualitative interviews conducted in 2024 as part of the Unlocking Healthcare project. Together, these complementary data sources will provide valuable insights into the legal, policy, technical, and practical factors influencing medical device repair and maintenance in Canada.

Over the coming months, the research team will be cleaning and organizing the survey data before beginning a detailed analysis to identify key trends related to barriers to repair and potential solutions. These findings will inform the next phase of the project, including the preparation of a report summarizing the study’s core findings and recommendations.

Thank you again to everyone who contributed to this research. Your participation is helping to strengthen the evidence base needed to inform future discussions on medical device repair, healthcare system resilience, and policy development in Canada.
